The Fish Lake Valley Hams, an unofficial but very good group of folks, have a Monday evening net on 146.52 MHz. That frequency, also known as the national simplex calling frequency, is typically monitored by at least one person in the valley. The larger association of Bishop Amateur Radio Club has area repeaters which you may be able to reach depending on your transmitting set up. Several active hams are members of the Bishop club.

In an attempt to provide radio service to the community here I have a small repeater on an area hill. If you’re a property owner in the area I would highly encourage you to get make use of this and promote its use amongst your neighbors. Coverage is fairly consistent including Upper Mountain Water Ranch, Lower Mountain Water Ranch, Dyer, the hot spring, and the 264 from the 773 (sporadically to the 6) to the north and Lida in the south. Getting started is very simple:

  1. Get your GMRS license. There is no test, and for ~$30 it covers you and your family for ten years.

  2. Get a GMRS radio that you like. There’s a lot of options, the Radioddity GM-30 doesn’t break the bank and charges via USB C so I’m a big fan.

  3. Contact me for repeater information. If you need help programming your radio I’m happy to help.
